The threat, not only to our personal finances but also to our very own identity posed by cyber attackers has never been so grave since the emergence of AI in our lives.

The good news, however, is that we can take a number of concrete measures that we can apply these days to help keep up with the ever evolving landscape and safeguard our businesses effectively from cyber criminals.

AI in cybersecurity

Notwithstanding its threats, Artificial Intelligence(AI) also enhances the detection, prevention and response to cyber attacks by analyzing vasts amounts of data and make informed decisions at speeds beyond human capabilities.

AI powered systems can detect threats real-time and enable proactive defensive measures to safeguard the sensitive data. Businesses can learn by running form submissions through an AI detector you can protect against phishing and adapting to new threats.

Use multiple-factor authentication

Multi-factor authentication involves use of an additional form of confirmation like an OTP or text message to your mobile phone, besides the password, when logging into important accounts.

Most accounts today give you the option to add multiple-factor authentication, so it is imprtant to not to skip the option as a secure step to keep your accounts safe and secure.

Choose difficult passwords

While many people still use pin codes and birthdates for passwords, a stronger password with at least 12 characters and a mix of upper case and lower case letters, symbols and numbers should be employed.

It is advisable to change your password regularly, use a password app or third party service where you only have to remember your primary password. In addition, generate a unique and cryptic password for each of your logins for an extra layer of security.

Use only chip-enabled credit cards

Credit card utilization is one of the best ways to hold on to your cash because in case of a cyber theft it is the credit card company’s money that needs to be hunted down and not yours.

While even most debit cards have a degree of protection that helps reclaim stolen money, if the card is misused and runs up a massive bill of purchases, it is your money that is lost and needs to be recovered.

Keep your software updated

While network defenders are working hard to fix the flaws in the system, bad actors will keep trying to exploit it.The task, therefore, relies on updating the software with the latest fixes.

Apart from updating your tablets, mobile phones and laptops, update your applications on the web browser as well on all the devices. Leverage automatic updates as well for all your devices.

Think and then click

If you ever see a link that looks like you have seen before but asks for a password, either to verify your personal information or update your KYC it is most likely a phishing scheme.

Though the webpage and link may look legitimate, in reality it is a design of a trickster to make you reveal your passwords or other sensitive information. So trust your instincts and think before you click.
